September 29th to October 5th.

What is The Week Without Driving?

The Week Without Driving is an annual, national campaign organized by America Walks with local partners, created "so that those who have the option to drive can learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers face, and work with nondrivers to create more accessible communities for all."

How Do I Participate?

  1. Accept the challenge. Use the form linked below to sign up. Find and plan alternatives to driving yourself to work, to run errands, or go anywhere you would normally drive.
  2. Reflect on your experience. What was easy, what was hard? How did it feel to travel without a car?
  3. Share! This is the most important step. Share specifics about getting around without a car: post on social media (use #weekwithoutdriving #northamptonma and @AmericaWalks), write an op-ed for the Hampshire Gazette, let your city councillor know, or send us your story (if you choose to provide an email address, we'll send you a follow-up survey).

What's the Goal?

Our goal is to shine a light on the challenges of getting around Northampton without a car; to gather on-the-ground data from people who agree to take the challenge, and use that information to advocate for necessary improvements especially in near-downtown neighborhoods like ours.

Who Are We?

The Montview Sidewalks and Streets Working Group is a group of residents of the Montview neighborhood. We want a safer and more accessible environment for walking, wheeling, and biking.
